If so, you may want to encourage her to take advantage of the Women in Engineering (WIE) program. Founded in 1994, WIE was established to recruit top female students into engineering majors at Georgia Tech, as well as to provide the resources and programs necessary to encourage their success and retention.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWIE has a number of programs available to ensure that female students graduate with a degree in engineering. These programs include:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMentor \u0026amp; Mentee:\u003C\/strong\u003E a peer mentoring program, where freshmen are matched with juniors, and sophomores with seniors. These mentoring relationships offer students a connection with an older student who offers advice, friendship and guidance.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ECoffee Talk Series:\u003C\/strong\u003E These coffee talks will feature many interesting guest speakers \u2013 both female faculty members and professional women in STEM \u2013 who will be joining us to share their professional stories and their personal advice! Everything from talks on grad school applications to professional women engineers giving career advice are on the schedule for the coming year.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EExcellence Awards Banquet:\u003C\/strong\u003E A benchmark program, where undergraduate female engineering students who have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher are recognized at an annual banquet. Almost half of the College\u2019s female students qualified for the event last spring.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EScholarships: A network of approximately 24 corporate partners offers scholarships for outstanding female students.
