  <body><![CDATA[<p>Speaking at the opening of the New Media and Gov&shy;ernance: Tools and Trends confer&shy;ence held in Abuja, Nigeria,&nbsp;<strong>Mike Best</strong>, associate professor in The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and the School of Interactive Computing, presented evidence of the significant impact of social media on the country’s 2011 general elections.
