Prizes are awarded to the top poster and oral presentation from each college. The symposium is sponsored by GT\u2019s\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.undergradresearch.gatech.edu\/spring-symposium\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EUndergraduate Research Opportunities Program\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;(UROP).\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAt this year\u2019s symposium, oral presentations were given by students Daniel A. Thigpen on \u201cPerceptions of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Nuclear Trafficking in Emerging Media\u201d (Mentor: INTA Assistant Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/inta.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/margaret-e-kosal\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EMargaret E. Kosal\u003C\/a\u003E), by Ryan Forman on \u201cAl Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula:\u0026nbsp; A Trend Toward Unconventional Weapons\u0022 (Mentor:\u0026nbsp; Kosal), and by Jeehoon M. Choi on \u201cSouth Korea\u2019s Objective in Beginning the \u2018Low-Carbon Green Growth\u2019 Program in 2009\u201d (Mentor: INTA Associate School Chair and Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.inta.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/brian-woodall\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EBrian Woodall\u003C\/a\u003E).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPosters were presented by students Sean T Williams on \u201cGreen Energy Innovation in South Korea\u201d (Mentor:\u0026nbsp; Woodall), by Sapphire Liu on \u201cDigital Gaming and Weapons of Mass Destruction\u201d (Mentor: Kosal), and by Kate Wharton on \u201cConflict and its Impact on Education Accumulation and Enrollment in Colombia: What We Can Learn from IDPs\u201d (Mentor: Econ Assistant Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.econ.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/uwaifo\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ERuth O. Uwaifo\u003C\/a\u003E).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAmong Ivan Allen College undergraduates participating in the Undergraduate Research Symposium this year, Daniel A. Thigpen received the award for best oral presentation awardee and Sean Williams received the award for best poster presentation across the IAC.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ENunn School student researchers include Presidential Undergraduate Research Award (PURA) winners, SAIC Undergraduate scholarship recipients, and students pursuing special topics research under faculty mentorship.
