  <title><![CDATA[IMPACT Presents: John Hayes, NOWaccount Chairman]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p><strong>On </strong><strong>Wednesday, March 28, </strong>John Hayes will speak at IMPACT. Mr. Hayes is currently the Chairman of NOWaccount, a merchant services system that works with B2B businesses to provide access to capital that is tied up in outstanding receivables. He has over 35 years of experience in developing technology-based companies and was the chairman of the Georgia Tech Committee of 20, the group that initiated the effort to create the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) on the Georgia Tech campus in 1979. In 1974 he created, in association with Wang Laboratories, the first computer-based word processing system. He was also co-founder and president of the company that built the first microcomputer accounting software, now called Peachtree Accounting. <br /><br />Mr. Hayes co-founded Comsell, an early producer of online interactive technology, which was sold to News Corporation in 1986. Comsell developed in partnership with Intelligent Systems the "Picture Computing" line of products including the full color graphics technology used by IBM for the early PCs. He also founded Interactive Health Network / GeoMedica, a producer of health-related interactive online products, which was sold to Reuters in 1994.</p><p>Read full <a href="http://www.ile.gatech.edu/files/IMPACT%20Spring%202012/Speaker_Bios/John_Hayes.pdf">bio</a>.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><em>About the Impact Speaker Series</em></p><p>Since 2002, the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership". The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit leaders.
