{"110101":{"#nid":"110101","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Statistics Seminar - Variable selection using dimension reduction model","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ETITLE: Variable selection using dimension reduction model\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESPEAKER: Dr. Wenxuan Zhong\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EABSTRACT:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn this talk, a forward screening selection procedure will be discussed\nunder the sufficient dimension reduction framework, in which the response\nvariable is influenced by a subset of predictors through an unknown\nfunction of a few linear combinations of them. Unlike linear model, our\nproposed method does not  impose a special form of  relationship (such as\nlinear) between the response variable and the predictor variables. Our\nmethod selects variables that attain the maximum correlation between the\ntransformed response and the linear combination of the variables. Various\nasymptotic properties, and in particular, its variable selection\nperformance under diverging number of predictors and sample size has been\ninvestigated and will be discussed in this talk.
