{"109401":{"#nid":"109401","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Engineers Week 2012","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ENational Engineers Week runs from February 19-25 and will feature \ncampus-wide events and competitions. Engineers Week celebrates the \npositive contributions engineers make to society and is a catalyst for \noutreach across the country to kids and adults alike. Engineers Week is \npart of many corporate and government cultures and is celebrated on \nevery U.S. engineering college campus.\u0026nbsp;\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis year\u0027s week-long celebration of engineering on the Georgia Tech \ncampus will pit each engineering major against its rivals in a student \ncompetition. Points will be rewarded at each competitive event (all \nexcept comedy night and the fair). Attendance and success in engineering\n will be equally awarded. Moreover, attendance is normalized to the size \nof the major, in order to prevent larger majors from overrunning smaller\n majors with sheer numbers.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EStudents are encouraged to work in groups. However, points will be \nawarded for each entry. (This is separate from attendance - each person \nscores points once, and each group scores points on top of that).\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIf an entry should happen to not win an event, your effort will still\n be rewarded. Points will be awarded for any sincere attempt. First \nplace winners will receive \u003Cstrong\u003E$75\u003C\/strong\u003E and second place will receive \u003Cstrong\u003E$50\u003C\/strong\u003E. Also, the major that accumulates the most points will win the newly created Engineers Cup!\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Ch2\u003ESchedule\u003C\/h2\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMon, Feb. 20 \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.tbpi.gatech.edu\/EWeek2012\/Chalking\u0022\u003EChalking Competition\u003C\/a\u003E (Due by 11 am)\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EStudents\n will create an engineering themed chalk mural on Skiles Walkway. Near Bunger Henry.\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWed, Feb. 22, 3 pm \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.tbpi.gatech.edu\/EWeek2012\/EggDrop\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EHumpty Dumpty Drop\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EParticipants\n will construct a device designed to slow down the fall of an egg and \nbring it to the event. The question is, how do\n you optimize something so simple?
