Georgia Tech is home to 55 fraternities and sororities. Naturally, this can seem a little overwhelming to students when they consider the options as they decide which chapter is right for them. The fraternities and sororities at Georgia Tech are grouped under four governing boards, each with their own unique recruitment and membership process. The following is a brief overview of each governing board and related recruitment events.

Collegiate Panhellenic Council
The Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) is the governing body for nine national sororities: seven National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities, and two national associate member sororities.

CPC will host formal recruitment for the seven NPC sororities August 18-23. Female students interested in joining an NPC sorority are encouraged to register for formal recruitment online at www.greek.gatech.edu before 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 18. Formal membership recruitment only occurs in the fall semester.

The two associate member chapters of the Collegiate Panhellenic Council will host their own recruitment period during the week of August 30. Visit the Associate Member page at www.panhellenic.gatech.edu to find out more about the specific times, dates, and locations. Associate member recruitment occurs in the fall and spring.

Interfraternity Council
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing board for Tech’s 32 inter/national fraternities. IFC hosts rush August 19-24, and no registration is required. Rush is an informal, relaxed period of time when the chapters host events with free entertainment and food to recruit new members for the fraternity.

IFC encourages interested students to visit as many fraternities as possible. To this end, IFC hosts rush tours on Saturday, August 20, from noon - 4 p.m., which gives both students and parents the opportunity to visit the fraternities. While registration is not required, we do ask that students and parents who are interested in taking the tours sign up at www.greek.gatech.edu.

IFC will host the Rush Fair from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, August 19, as a part of Fresh Friday, an event for the entire freshman class sponsored by the freshman leadership organizations and IFC. During the Rush Fair, members from all 32 fraternities will occupy tables along Tech Walk (formerly Skiles Walkway) so interested students can visit a number of chapters in one convenient location. Rush events will also occur at various fraternity houses from 7-11 p.m. on that evening, and from 7-11 p.m. on August 20-24.
Also on Sunday, August 22, IFC will conduct rush from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to allow parents to attend rush with their students. Since many parents will be on campus for New Student Convocation that evening, this gives parents a time to meet current members, alumni, and parents of current members of the different fraternities. Lunch is provided by the fraternity chapters.

IFC also holds rush in the spring semester with most of the 32 chapters participating.

Multicultural Greek Council
The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the governing body for seven cultural based and cultural interest fraternities and sororities. The seven chapters of the MGC coordinate and implement their own new member recruitment processes. MGC will host a barbeque on Monday, August 29, from 6-8 p.m. Students interested in learning about the MGC fraternities and sororities are encouraged to attend the barbeque to meet all the members of the MGC chapters and learn about their intake process. Information about the Multicultural Greek Council and its chapters can be found at www.mgc-gatech.com.

National Pan-Hellenic Council
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for eight historically African American fraternities and sororities. There are four fraternities and four sororities in NPHC. The eight chapters coordinate and implement their own new member process, which is commonly referred to as “membership intake.” NPHC will host a barbeque on Friday, August 26, at 5 p.m. Students interested in learning about the NPHC fraternities and sororities are encourage to come out to the cookout to meet all the members of the NPHC chapters and learn about their intake process. Information about NPHC and the member chapters can be found at www.cyberbuzz.gatech.edu/nphc.

All students who wish to pursue membership in an NPHC organization must attend a mandatory information session where basic information and policies governing intake are covered. Students only have to attend one of these workshops which are offered several times each year. The time and location of workshops and future offerings will be posted online at www.greek.gatech.edu. Historically for the fall semester, the workshop occurs the week following the Labor Day holiday.

If you or your student has any questions about the councils or their recruitment and membership intake processes, please contact the Office of Greek Affairs at 404.894.2002 or visit us online at www.greek.gatech.edu. We look forward to meeting you!
