Georgia Tech is one of ten universities that has been awarded the 2012 University Transportation Center national grants. The university is charged with coordinating a regional network of colleges and universities to research transportation funding, infrastructure, and impact. Tech received $7 million. Within the university, the Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development (CQGRD) will collaborate with the Civil Engineering department and other participants. Dr. Catherine Ross, CQGRD director, noted that an advisory panel has already agreed on broad principles for the program. Projects could focus on global competitiveness, logistics, and economic development, she said. ]]>
