Engineered Virus-Like Particles for Biomedicine and Catalysis

Biochemistry Division Seminar Series

Virus-like particles represent robust and easily accessible nanoscale scaffolds for a variety of applications in chemistry, molecular biology, and materials science. Our work in recent years has focused on the particle derived from the bacteriophage Qb capsid as a model system. Methods for the chemical and genetic derivatization of the coat protein, its targeting to particular cell types, and its use as a container for enzymes will be described.
