Historic occasion! Dr. Charles Liotta, Chair of the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry was informed that two faculty will be granted the title Regents' Professor, pending BOR approval.

Seth Marder is Professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Director of the Center for Organic Photonics and Electronics (COPE). Prof. Marder came to Georgia Tech in 2003 from the University of Arizona.

Professor Gary Schuster came to Georgia Tech from the University of Illinois to become the Dean of the College of Sciences in 1994. Since 2001 Schuster has been the Vasser Woolley Chair of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He became Provost and while serving as Provost, he also took on the position of Interim President of Georgia Tech. He has since returned to his research roots in the School.

A Regents' Professorship represents the highest academic status bestowed by the University System of Georgia, and is meant to recognize a substantial, significant and ongoing record of scholarly achievement that has earned high national esteem over a sustained period.
