Georgia Conservancy's Common Ground Conference '07

Primary tabs

Georgia Conservancy hosts a biannual conference to bring together engaged citizens, educators, government representatives, and business and industry leaders for an in-depth review of a specific environmental issue. The Common Ground 07 conference will educate participants about environmental impacts of energy production and use, current issues related to climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy in Georgia, and methods for individuals, business, industry and government to decrease energy use in their own sectors. This conference aims to inspire and motivate Georgia citizens to create a new vision for the state's energy future.

The conference typically draws over 400 attendees and, this year, will feature over 40 national and local expert panelists, including keynote speakers Terry Tamminen and Mike Tidwell. Tamminen, as former chief policy advisor to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, worked to create California's landmark carbon reduction and trading program. Tidwell, a native Georgian, is founder and director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and works to raise awareness about the impacts and solutions associated with global warming.
