Message from the Dean of Students Regarding Tragic Traffic Accident

Primary tabs

On November 4, 2011, Georgia Tech's Dean of Students shared the following message with students regarding the traffic accident involving three Georgia Tech students:

Dear Students,

Early this morning, three of our students were involved in a tragic single-car accident. I am deeply saddened to share that Naren Raghuraman, an International Affairs undergraduate, is deceased. The other two students, Ratheesvar Mohan and Daniel Hickman, both Aerospace Engineering undergraduates, have been hospitalized. Their families had been notified.

We wanted you to be aware of the situation and the great loss to our campus community.  Our focus and thoughts are with the families who have been affected by this tragedy, as well as those of you who are their friends and colleagues. On behalf of the entire Georgia Tech family, we extend our support and condolences to the families of these students.

We ask that you respect the families’ privacy during this difficult time. We will continue to offer support to friends and families of Naren, Ratheesvar, and Daniel in the days and weeks to come. If you need any assistance, you may contact our Counseling Center by calling 404-894-2575.

Sincerely,

John Stein
Dean of Students/Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs
