Boys to Men: Chorus Concert featuring Georgia Tech Glee Club

Primary tabs

Come one, come all, to the first of what (we hope) will be a celebration of music by, for, and about guys. On Sunday, November 13, at 3.00 PM, four all-male choral ensembles will converge in the exquisite acoustic space of Spivey Hall to present aconcert of choral music.

The concert will feature two of the finest high school men’sensembles in the Metro-Atlanta area:

  • The Chestatee High School Men's Chorale (HallCounty), under the direction of Elizabeth Williams
  • Starr’s Mill High SchoolCAMERATA (Fayette County) under the direction of Dr. John Odom.

The Atlanta Vocal Project, a semi-professional men’s chorus under the direction of Clay Hine, will join these two outstanding groups. The ‘AVP’ is presently ranked as the 9th bestbarbershop chorus in the world.

The Georgia Tech Glee Club, under the direction of Dr.Jerry Ulrich, is acting as host ensemble for this event.

Each of the individual groups will perform a set of mostly unaccompanied music, and the four groups will then combine to present two premiere works: Different Perspectives by Clay Hine, and Ship of State, composed by J. Michael Dorough with text by Larry W. Brown, a Georgia Tech alumnus. Both of these pieces were written for this occasion.

The concert atmosphere will be informal and entertaining, and area high school groups and high school choirs' tenor/bass sections are encouraged to attend.
