Computing Researchers Study Robot-Human Interaction, Win Best Paper Award

Graduate Research Assistant Alan Wagner and Regents' ProfessorRonald Arkin won the best technical paper award for "A Framework forSituation-Based Social Interaction" at the 15th Institute of Electricaland Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Symposium on Robot andHuman Interactive Communication (RO-MAN 06). The award was presented atthis year's conference held in Korea from August 26 to 29.

The paper presents a theoretical framework, which offers aprincipled, general approach for studying interactive robotics problems.

IEEE RO-MAN07 was sponsored by IEEE Industrial Electronics society(IES), IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society (SMC), IEEE Roboticsand Automation Society (RAS), Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), andKorea Robotics Society (KRS).
