Women of Earth Team Hosts Interactive Webinar for Next Generation of Global Stewards

Primary tabs

On March 20th, the Women of Earth team of the Global Social Entrepreneurship VIP at Georgia Tech hosted an interactive webinar entitled: Resisting with Affection: Certification Workshop for the Next Generation of Stewards of Earth.

The purpose of this collaborative virtual webinar was to engage university students and professors around the world with the theme, Resisting With Affection, through roundtable discussions, research presentations/Q&As, and cultural learning sessions surrounding the topics of the film. Such topics included women’s health, environmental stewardship, indigenous and quilombola identities and futures, and intersectional female empowerment.

The event engaged university students and professors from the US, Mexico, Canada, the UK, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, Egypt, and the Misipawistik Cree Nation, and featured Neha Kumar, an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, as one of the feminist change-maker speakers.

Part of the event took place in breakout rooms, during which the team moderated small group discussion activities dealing with intersectionality of identity and global development. Each small group was asked to use ten words or less to create a tagline which represented them as a collective. One of the taglines, which sums up the ultimate goal of the Women of Earth project, states that “educating and eradicating stigma paves the road to progress.”

This Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) is sponsored by the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and Rise Up & Care.
