Last year, Student Celebration Week recognized student accomplishments virtually during the pandemic. Now, Student Engagement is bringing it back for a second year. With collaborative efforts from Institute Communications and Graduate Studies, the Georgia Tech community will maintain the tradition of celebrating the campuswide achievements of our students, leaders, and organizations. 

The mostly virtual week of events consists of several ceremonies that will be open to all  Tech community members and their families from March 31 to April 8. There will be an opportunity to enjoy the following ceremonies: 

Up With the White & Gold Awards

From creating and building community to winning local and international competitions, our students lead the Tech community in identifying ways to create the next entrepreneur, innovator, social change agent, big dreamer, and much more. The annual Up with the White & Gold celebration (co-hosted by the Division of Student Life and SGA) honors the achievements, hard work, and dedication of student leaders and student organizations. The event highlights the significant role that student leadership and involvement play on campus.

This year, Up With the White & Gold will be conducted in a hybrid format. We will be offering departments and organizations the opportunity to join us in-person for a socially distant awards reception on Wednesday, March 31. 

At the reception, we will be passing out awards and recording the ceremony for a community livestream event that will take place on Monday, April 5, at 6 p.m. on the Center for Student Engagement Facebook page.

Student Honors Celebration

The 2021 Student Honors Celebration recognizes students who have achieved academic excellence in their programs of study at Georgia Tech. This virtual celebration will culminate on Tuesday, April 6, with our digital program announcing award winners and ways to celebrate your student.

Fraternal Excellence Awards

In celebration of Georgia Tech’s 132-year-old fraternity and sorority community, the Fraternal Excellence Awards is a celebration of Georgia Tech’s fraternity and sorority life. The ceremony will provide the community the opportunity to be recognized by their peers and acknowledged for their hard work. Awards will be presented by the department, all four governing councils, and leadership organizations within Fraternity and Sorority Life.

This year the Fraternal Excellence Awards will be conducted in a hybrid format. Students and award recipients will have the opportunity to engage in a socially distant event on Saturday, April 3.

Additionally, there will be a Virtual Celebration for the Georgia Tech community on Tuesday, April 6. 

Lavender Awards 

Since 2013, each April, all members of the Georgia Tech community are invited to Lavender Celebration, which is the LGBTQIA Resource Center's event to celebrate our Lavender Graduates and Lavender Award Recipients.

At Lavender Graduation, we honor our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual graduates. Families of our graduating students are also welcome to attend.

First presented in 2015, the Lavender Awards recognize individuals, departments, and organizations that have made Georgia Tech a safer and more inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and asexual students, faculty, staff, and alumni. An awards committee reviews all nominations and selects winners. The virtual celebration will take place on Thursday, April 8.
