NOTE: While we share our formal practice plans, they are not yet set in stone. The CRC requires that every sports club submit their practice plan for a review of its social distancing and COVID-preventative operations. Until we are formally approved, all of the events we have planned are pending and therefore subject to last minute cancellations. We will keep all of you updated about our approval process.

We will be taking attendance at all practices and requiring that each skater fill out a virtual COVID symptom checklist form before each practice. We will send them out before each practice. All practices will be social distanced (minimum of 6ft), which will be marked with chalk/cones. Each practice will have no more than 10 skaters, including the coach. 

New Members

This semester’s open enrollment practices are scheduled for:

• Sunday, Aug. 30 from 2-4 p.m. @ Peter’s Parking Deck (basketball courts)
• Sunday, Sept. 6 from 2-4 p.m. @ Peter’s Parking Deck (basketball courts)

At open enrollment, we teach you the basics of roller skating! This includes how to start, stop, fall, balance, and proper skating form. We all start somewhere, and we hope you choose to learn with us! All you need is a good attitude, a water bottle, and to pass the GT COVID symptoms checklist. Make sure to come 10-15 minutes early to get geared up.

Due to COVID regulations, we are limited to 8 new skaters each open enrollment session, therefore, skaters must RSVP to attend open enrollment. The first 8 people who RSVP will receive confirmation of their standing, and additional RSVPs will go on a waitlist. If you RSVP and later find that you cannot attend, you must let us know ASAP so that another skater can fill your spot. After the first open enrollment session (8/30), we will ask which skaters wish to return. Those who do not will have their spot passed on to the next person on the waitlist for the next open enrollment session (9/6). More info coming soon on how to RSVP, so keep an eye out for our emails.

If you do not have your own gear (skates, helmet, and protective pads), you can borrow some at these two sessions. Skaters who wish to join YJRD can check out gear for the semester, and they MUST do it at the end of their first open enrollment session. Checking out gear will require a security deposit of $20.
