Faculty and Staff Required to Disclose State Business Activities

Primary tabs

State law requires that all public officials and employees disclose all business transactions occurring during the previous calendar year in which the individual has (1) transacted with the state of Georgia and any agency of the state of Georgia for himself or on behalf of any business, or (2) any business in which the individual, or any member of his/her family, has a substantial interest.

These State Business Transaction Disclosure Reports for 2010 are due on January 31, 2011. If an employee has no business transactions to report, then it is not necessary for that employee to complete and file the State Business Transaction Disclosure Report.

The State Business Transaction Disclosure reporting form, along with instructions that explain what type of business transactions must be reported, is available at http://www.usg.edu/legal/docs/bus_transact.pdf.

This disclosure is separate from — and in addition to — policies on institutional and financial conflicts of interest that have been established by Georgia Tech.  A description of those policies and associated reporting requirements may be found at http://www.compliance.gatech.edu/conflicts-of-interest-gt.

Questions regarding this requirement may be directed to the Office of Legal Affairs at asklegal@gatech.edu or 404-894-4812.
