12:00 PM - 12:45 PM ET

50th Anniversary of Earth Day

The North Pole has ice all year round as it stands, but as global temperatures rise, ice levels could dissipate in the summer months. Increased melting of ice sheets and losses of seasonal sea ice are both commonly reported consequences of climate change that can impact polar marine ecosystems globally.

What about Georgia? We've had hurricanes, tornadoes, and ice storms just these past two years. How does the loss of polar ice affect both rural and urban communities in our state

Join World Affairs Council of Atlanta for a conversation with Dr. Patricia Yager who is a Professor of Marine Science at the University of Georgia. Her interdisciplinary research combines oceanography, marine ecology, and biogeochemistry, and concentrates on the interactions between climate and marine ecosystems.

This program is presented by World Affairs Council Members Forum Steering Committee and the Young Leaders Executive Board.

Atlanta Global Studies Center is proud to be a co-sponsor of World Affairs Council events.

As a courtesy to our community, this Members Forum program is OPEN TO ALL.

*Registration required. Zoom details will be sent the morning of the program*
