Early Action Applicants Get Admission Decisions from Georgia Tech

Primary tabs

More than 22,000 students will log on to Georgia Tech’s undergraduate admission portal Saturday morning to find out if they’ve been invited to join the next class of Yellow Jackets.

Early Action admission notifications will be released at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. A total of 4,569 students have been admitted this round, out of 22,199 applications, for an overall admit rate of 21%.

Within Georgia, those admitted represent 92 counties and 325 high schools. The Early Action admit pool is also made up of 42% women.  As is always the case,  Georgia Tech automatically accepts every valedictorian and salutatorian who applies from any Georgia high school.

Some of those admitted in Early Action received admission offers through one of Georgia Tech’s transfer pathway programs, the newest of which is the Talent Initiative Transfer Pathway for Pell-eligible students. Others were offered admission beginning this summer — around 20% of first-year Tech students begin their college careers during the summer term.

The deadline for Regular Decision admission was Monday, Jan. 6. Georgia Tech has received nearly 41,000 applications for admission next year, an increase of 11% over last year.

Within the overall applicant pool is an increase in several target areas — a 14% increase in female applicants, 22% in first-generation students, and 14% in underrepresented minority students.

“Diversity in all forms is an Institute priority. We’re pleased to see our recruitment efforts playing out and that these students are interested in attending Georgia Tech,” said Rick Clark, director of Undergraduate Admission.

Applications are up in all six of Georgia Tech’s colleges, but this year brought particularly large increases in liberal arts (29%), design (23%), and sciences (22%).

“Our goal is to ensure Tech is strong in all academic areas, so we have been consistently investing our time and resources in order to recruit and enroll students to all our programs,” Clark said.

Regular Decision applicants, and those who were deferred during Early Action, will receive their admission decisions Saturday, March 14.
