GT Panama's Dario Solis Receives ASME McDonald Mentoring Award

Dario Solis, Ph.D., former director of research at the Universidad Technológica de Panamá and Managing Director of the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation & Research Center, was the 2010 recipient of the ASME McDonald Mentoring Award. Dr. Solis was honored for his contributions to the personal growth and professional advancement of countless young engineers, and for pioneering critical research programs that have enhanced the academic capacity at the Universidad Technológica de Panamá and the national scientific community.

The McDonald Mentoring Award, established in 2007, recognizes the outstanding mentoring of other professionals by an engineer in industry, government, education or private practice. Candidates must have made a significant contribution as a mentor and engineering advocate within the past five years, as well as a member of ASME or another International Congress of Mechanical Engineering Societies (ICOMES) member society. The winner of ASME McDonald Mentoring Award receives a $1,000 honorarium and a bronze medallion.
