Title: Techniques for Distributed Monitoring of Multi-Port Linear Systems: an Application in Natural Gas Distribution Networks
Committee:
Dr. Coyle, Advisor
Dr. Anderson, Chair
Dr. AlRegib
Abstract:
The objective of the proposed research is to develop distributed monitoring techniques for monitoring the physical integrity of multi-port linear systems. The monitoring techniques are implemented collaboratively by intelligent sensing nodes that are distributed across the input/output ports of the monitored system. The research work will be conducted in the context of monitoring complex fluid-carrying pipeline networks particularly natural gas distribution networks. Distributed signal and data processing algorithms as well as machine learning techniques will be developed, customized and experimentally tested with the objective of enabling a plurality of intelligent sensing nodes to monitor the integrity of any complex gas distribution network and detected and locate the presence of faults, such as leaks and blockage, in the network.
