Andrea Thomaz: College of Computing Professor of Excellence for 2010

Assistant Professor Andrea Thomaz (Interactive Computing) has been named a Subaru Professor of Excellence for her outstanding contributions to the Institute and to her field of study.

Subaru and Georgia Tech have paired up as partners, based on a shared commitment to engineering excellence and environmental stewardship. To celebrate these shared interests and new partnership, Subaru has recognized one outstanding professor from each college at Georgia Tech.  

In recognition of Thomaz’ accomplishments, Subaru will make a $1,000 gift to the Institute in her name, as well as holding a luncheon to recognize her and her fellow honorees. Thomaz directs the Socially Intelligent Machines research lab, where the focus is on machines that learn new tasks and goals from ordinary people in everyday environments.
