Full Summary: STOCHASTICS SEMINAR SERIES -- A new stochastic modeling approach for next-generation wireless

The rapid growth of wireless communications either from the perspective of the number of subscribers or multimedia services is driving the evolution from the second generation towards next-generation wireless networks. The major issue in such networks is to accommodate demanding heterogeneous services with a desired quality of service while keeping the best possible
mobility performance.

This work aims to extend the performance analysis of third and fourth generation networks through a new modeling approach that describes the combined effect of the mobility of subscribers and the teletraffic they generate.

The transient and limit analysis of the number of mobiles per call state in a cell as well as the handoff processes from the cell are investigated. The new and handoff call blocking probability for network planning are derived, and the distribution of the required capacity in a short time interval for network control is obtained. Simulations are carried out to validate the analytical results.
