Call for Pilot Project Proposals: The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design

The Kendeda Building Academic & Research Council is accepting year two proposals for research, teaching, and community-based pilot ventures connected to The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design. You may review year one proposals here

The maximum funding per project is $10,000. Successful pilot projects will promote Institute goals and priorities connected to sustainability through design, construction, outreach, educational, and research opportunities, as well as elevate new goals and priorities through collective learning and knowledge development.

Successful projects should connect to areas such as: 

  • Dashboards/sensors/monitoring – especially water
  • Evaluation of living buildings and construction processes
  • Equity
  • Policy
  • Energy conservation/power, plug load management
  • Post-occupancy behavior
  • Narrative construction/storytelling
  • Performance landscape
  • Sustainable food and food waste

Proposals can pertain to a research area or topic of interest to a school, center, lab, or faculty member. Pilot projects will be chosen by October 15, with funding available immediately. The pilot project must be completed by June 30, 2019.

Learn more about The Kendeda Building and the proposal requirements at an information session on Thursday, October 4 from 11 a.m. – noon at the College of Design Auditorium.

Proposals are due on Friday, October 12. Proposals and questions may be submitted to GTLivingBuildingProposals@gatech.edu.
