This risen sea floor is red like rust. As oxygen built up in the waters, iron rusted out of solution. When it was was a plentiful in the ocean, the powerful chemical reactant that could have facilitated production of N2O (laughing gas). Karijini National Park Banded Iron Formations, Australia.
