Career Fair
9:30 AM- 3:30 PM, Campus Recreation Center

The fall Career Fair is the largest Career Fair on Georgia Tech's campus. Last year, over 400 companies and 5,000 students attended the fair. Companies attending the fair are hiring co-ops, interns, and full-time positions, as well as students from all majors and degree types. Students are REQUIRED to dress in business formal attire to gain entry to the fair!

Moving into Leadership Roles
11:00 AM - Noon, Pine Room (Student Center Commons)

Interested in taking your involvement activities to the next level? Want to learn how to be a leader in your organization and gain new skills? Come learn about moving into leadership roles at Georgia Tech.

Sophomore Fellowship Information Session
6:00-7:30 PM, North Avenue White and Old Gold Room

Learn about the fellowship applications open to sophomores. These include the Goldwater Scholarship for students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) research areas and the Udall Scholarship for those working on environmental issues and who plan a career involving the environment. Students will also learn about planning ahead for references, campus and community activities, and developing a focus and vision for applications in the future, such as the Truman Scholarship open to juniors.


Wednesday, September 15th

Jump Start Your Career in Your Second Year: Tips, Strategies & Opportunities
5:00 – 6:00PM,  Student Success Center, Clary Theatre

This workshop will feature two guest speakers who will offer advice on professional communication skills, personal branding, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, networking, career fairs, job search strategies and much more! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn how to make yourself stand apart as you seek a co-op, internship or work opportunity. Don’t wait. Now is the right time to come out and get started on your job search. Bring you questions as there will be plenty of time for Q&A.  There will be pizza and drinks provided.  Sponsored by the Division of Professional Practices and the Office of Success Programs/Sophomore Programs.

Campus Leadership, Building Future Success: Alumni Panel
6:00 - 7:00PM, GT Alumni House, Ballroom
The Student Alumni Association’s first “Get Ready for the Real World” program will occur in conjunction with Sophomore Welcome Week. The purpose of this leadership-focused program will be to provide sophomores and other interested students insight into becoming campus leaders and finding leadership roles that will help them develop skills that will benefit them in their future endeavors, making them successful alumni. A panel of Tech alumni will provide advice, share stories from personal experiences, and answer questions to provide guidance to interested students on how leadership on campus builds future success.

Should you change your major?
11:00 AM-12:00 PM, Student Center
Commons: Crescent Room
A panel of academic advisors representing each college on campus (Architecture, Management, Sciences, Engineering, Ivan Allen, Computing) will answer your questions about their majors and discuss the pros and cons of changing your major.

Finding Success in Your Sophomore Year
6:00-7:00 PM, North Avenue Apartments

Home is Where the Fun Is Part 2: Sophomore Resource Fair
1:00 - 3:00 PM North Avenue Quad

Ever wonder what you should be doing in your second-year related to your career, involvement in your major, or professional opportunities outside of Tech? Come to this interactive fair to learn about resources available at Tech to help you get on track and make the most of your experience.   This program is open to all second-year students.  Non-North Avenue residents will be able to access this event.  Sponsored by Housing and Residence Life and the Office of Success Programs/Sophomore Programs.

 

Saturday, September 18th

Sophomore Class Trip
Join fellow sophomores on a white water rafting and rock climbing trip to the 1996 Olympic River. Open to all second-year students or all ability levels, the Sophomore Class Trip is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends and build new friendships while having fun.
