2018 President's Walk and Health Expo

Primary tabs

Celebrate the end of the spring semester at the annual President’s Walk and Health Expo hosted by Health & Well-Being on Thursday, April 26th!

The President’s Walk is a time-honored tradition where President “Bud” Peterson guides students and employees through campus along the Tyler Brown Pi Mile.  Two routes will be offered: a one-mile option or a three-mile option. The walk is a great opportunity to de-stress and network with students, faculty, and staff from across campus, including the President himself! CRC Associate Director, Caroline Dotts said, “This event is a great opportunity for everyone to get up and get moving after a long day. Walking is a great way to improve circulation, strengthen muscles and it’s a great mood booster!

The health expo, taking place on the lawn between the Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) and Stamps Health Services building, will feature numerous health-related vendors who are located both on and off campus to help you make smart and healthy decisions every day. Good Measure meals and Stamps Health Services Pharmacy are just some of the great vendors you will get a chance to chat with during the event. Many vendors will have door prizes and freebies. There will also be a hydration station and make your own trail mix bar (first come, first serve).

The Health Expo and check-in/registration for the President’s Walk begin at 3 pm. Pre-registration for the walk is encouraged but not required (click here to pre-register through mycrc). The first 250 registrants will receive the official 2018 President’s Walk & Health Expo T-shirt.

At 4 pm, Health & Well-Being Executive Director, Suzy Harrington will be announcing the 2018 Certified Healthy recipients. “So many of our students and employees are doing wonderful things around campus and this initiative is a great way to highlight them,” said Harrington. This year, Certified Healthy will recognize student groups and campus departments at Georgia Tech that have demonstrated a commitment to fostering healthy lifestyle choices across all dimensions of well-being.

Following the awards ceremony, President Peterson will give remarks and officially begin the walk at 4:30 pm.

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s walk rain or shine! For more information about the walk and the event, go to hwb.gatech.edu/walk.
