VPID Finalist: Anthony Walesby

The search committee charged with identifying Georgia Tech’s first Vice President for Institute Diversity has narrowed its list of candidates to three finalists. The first of these is Anthony Walesby, who is scheduled for a two-day campus visit and will deliver a public presentation during this open forum.

Anthony J. Walesby, Associate Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs and Senior Director of the Office of Institutional Equity, University of Michigan 

Walesby has created nationally recognized programs that provide definitions and examples of various forms of discrimination and harassment, and address hate and bias-related matters. Before joining the University of Michigan, Walesby was an assistant provost and associate director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at the University of Illinois, where he created and implemented a variety of programs. Prior to his career in higher education, he served as a federal investigator for both the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Walesby earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
