SGA & Health Initiatives Hosting First GT Health Day on March 8th

Did you know Georgia Tech offers free monthly yoga classes or pet therapy? What about outdoor adventures and a travel immunization clinic? The Institute is bursting with opportunities for you to be your best self. To help you realize all of the resources that are available to students, the Georgia Tech Student Government Association (SGA) and Health Initiatives, a Health & Well-Being department, have teamed up to bring students a day dedicated to health and well-being: GT Health Day.

Alex Casado, SGA Wellness Co-Chair said, "It is so easy to feel secluded and left behind in an environment that seems to put all its emphasis on moving forward. I am excited for the opportunity that GT Health Day is going to give us to reach students and help them better understand all of the resources available to them on campus."

GT Health Day is a celebration of all of the resources available to you on campus and aims to promote the five dimensions of well-being — professional, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical — in Georgia Tech students. “The purpose of the event is to bring students, faculty, and staff together to learn more about the various resources offered by the Office of Health & Well-Being as well as other departments and student organizations here on campus. I am really excited to see how we as a community can come together and share valuable ways to implement the five dimensions of well-being here on campus,” said Sara Beagle, SGA’s Vice President of Student Life.

The event takes place on March 8th from 10am-1pm at the Campanile and Tech Walkway (rain date: March 9th). More than just a health fair, students will be able to learn about resources offered on campus by departments and organizations and how to incorporate well-being into their everyday lives.

“I am looking forward to reaching more students to help them better understand the resources available to them on campus,” said Health Initiatives’ Health Educator and co-coordinator of the event, Sarah Morales. “Georgia Tech is a rigorous school that often times leaves students feeling isolated and alone. Our department and countless others have created numerous initiatives to help combat this problem and this event is a great way to pull them all together.”

Students are encouraged to pick up a “passport” when they arrive at the event and visit tables in each dimension of well-being. After visiting tables in at least 3 dimensions of well-being, students will earn a prize (first come, first serve). Don’t miss out your chance to embrace well-being, learn some new tactics for practicing self-care, and find out about the variety of health and well-being resources available on campus.
