As a Distinguished Executive in Residence at Scheller College of Business, Mr. Blake works with the Dean of the College, Maryam Alavi, on strategic initiatives and strengthening partnerships with the local and national business communities.

Frank Blake served as Chairman and CEO of The Home Depot from January 2007 through November 2014, and then as chairman through January 2015. Frank joined The Home Depot in 2002 as executive vice president, business development, and corporate operations. 

Mr. Blake previously served as deputy secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to that, he served in a variety of executive roles at General Electric, including senior vice president, Corporate Business Development.

His public sector experience also includes having served as general counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, deputy counsel to Vice President George Bush and law clerk to Justice Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Blake serves on the board of directors for the Georgia Aquarium, Delta Air Lines and Proctor & Gamble. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a jurisprudence degree from Columbia University School of Law.

Since 2002, the Impact Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership." The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit leaders.
