The Iranian Student Association at Georgia Tech hosts this event in memory of Maryam Mirzakhani, the late mathematician and Fields Medal recipient.
Mirzakhani was a renowned mathematician and a professor at Stanford University. She was the first woman and the first Iranian to receive the most prestigious award in mathematics, the Fields Medal. She died July 14 after a long battle with breast cancer.
This public event will celebrate her life and great achievements. A speaker will talk about Mirzakhani and her work, and some videos will be shown. The event concludes with an open discussion about the life of this great scientist.
