Abstract:

The objective of the proposed research is to identify and optimize two classes of high locality memory reference streams in the cache coherent shared memory multiprocessors. The underlying hypothesis is that modern cache coherent shared memory multiprocessors are optimized for accessing low-locality and moderately-shared memory objects. To achieve this goal, two different schemes are explored to minimize the shared memory abstraction overheads associated to those two target memory reference streams. This high-level approach ultimately aims at upgrading scalability of the large scale systems such as multi-socket cache coherent shared memory multi-processors, throughout improving performance.
