Georgia Tech Cyber Security Town Hall: New Standards for Controlled Unclassified Information

Primary tabs

The federal government has recently developed cyber security standards for protecting the storage, processing, and transmission of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). CUI at Georgia Tech includes, but is not limited to, export controlled research, federally-funded research, health information, student records, and visa records.

Government agencies are starting to require adherence to these standards when this data is shared either directly, or indirectly through contractors, with non-government entities (including universities and research institutions). Failure to adhere to these security standards could lead to the loss of funding for contracts and other projects that involve this information. In order to protect this funding, Georgia Tech Cyber Security is developing a strategy to help our community comply with these standards and is looking to engage the campus in this discussion.

A town hall meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26 from 10:00 - 11:00 in the Student Center Theatre to discuss this matter.  We strongly encourage all affected or interested parties to attend.
