Ginny Carroll, a sorority alumna and global difference maker, was shocked to learn that two thirds of all illiterate adults are women. She understood that educating women was one of the most important ways in which developing countries can fight poverty, and she had a deep desire to make a change in the world. She founded Circle of Sisterhood in 2010, a non-profit organization powered by sorority women to raise financial resources to remove education barriers for girls and women facing poverty and oppression. Since its founding in 2010, Circle of Sisterhood has had great successes with over 220 campus sorority communities engaged, 11 schools built, and supporting girls and women in 22 countries across 4 continents.

The Georgia Tech Panhellenic Community supports the Circle of Sisterhood and is working to fundraise over $40,000 to build a school in a developing country in March 2018 to help serve the mission of promoting education.
