Arts@Tech Performance Season Set for 2016-17

Primary tabs

The Office of the Arts announces the 2016-17 Arts@Tech performance season. The 25th season is highlighted by great performances in music, dance and theater that cross genres and exemplify the innovative and inspiring work at the intersection of art, science, and technology.

The Georgia Tech community will enjoy performances by Second City comedy troupe, jazz artists SFJazz Collective and the Vijay Iyer Trio, gospel favorites The Blind Boys of Alabama, and the spectacular percussion of DRUMLine Live, and so much more.

“Often a 25-year anniversary makes you think about the past,” said Georgia Tech Office of the Arts Director Madison Cario. “But this season is about ’the next’ so in addition to presenting traditional performing arts forms, we are now curating and commissioning experiences whose creators are integrating dance, theater, and live music with light, sound, spoken word, interactive media, and live design in exciting new ways.”

At the forefront of art, science, and technology are mixed media/theater artist Natasha Tsakos, composer DJ Spooky, wearable technology/dance company iLuminate, visual/dance artist Katherine Helen Fisher, and theater company EarFilms.  New immersive arts experiences can also be found in the 2016-17 season, along with many artists with exemplary work in traditional performing arts forms.

Season ticket packages for Georgia Tech faculty, staff, and students are now on sale at discounted prices.
