Jerry Nunn was named the recipient of Georgia Tech's  2016 Building Manager of the Year in a ceremony held recently during the Georgia Tech Building Managers Symposium.

Nunn supports the occupants of the Paper Tricentennial Building, home of the Renewable Bioproducts Institute, the Robert C. Williams Papermaking Museum and Institute for Materials at 10th Avenue and Hemphill. He received recognition for his outstanding contributions to building management, safety and preparedness of the Georgia Tech campus. The award is given by the GTPD Office of Emergency Preparedness and the Environmental Health and Safety Department.

"Each year the Georgia Tech Police Department Office of Emergency Preparedness, in coordination with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Facilities, recognizes one building manager who has demonstrated great efforts in supporting safety and security initiatives in their building," said William Smith, director of Georgia Tech's Office of Emergency Preparedness. "This year we proudly presented the award to Mr. Jerry Nunn. Jerry has been an amazing supporter of both Georgia Tech Police and EH&S and their safety and security initiatives. We know that building managers on campus often have to act as part time crime prevention officers, part time safety managers and part tie emergency planners. They do this often while juggling the demands of many building tenants with a variety of requests. This is often the case for Jerry, but he always does to with a great enthusiasm and spirit."

RBI Executive Director Norman Marsolan added, "We rely on Jerry's knowledge, results orientation, team work, positive relationships and optimism to keep the facility functional, safe and pleasant."

Lavon Harper, Marsolan's administrative manager, said, "Jerry is very accommodating, has a wonderfully positive attitude and desires to help people with their projects."

Nunn oversees facility-related projects, maintenance and renovations, as well as day-to-day issues related to managing the facility.
