Primary tabs

The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory is ranked #2 in U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of the nation’s top graduate biomedical engineering programs. The Coulter Department is a unique and flourishing public-private partnership between Emory University’s School of Medicine and Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering.

"Our graduate ranking is reflective of the scholarship of our faculty, our prestigious training grants and the incredible student body we have," said Ravi Bellamkonda, chair of the Coulter Department. "With new professional development programs we are implementing in our graduate program this year, I expect the Coulter Department at Georgia Tech and Emory to continue to set the standards for an exceptional graduate training in Biomedical Engineering."

As in the last four rankings, all of the College of Engineering’s specialties were ranked in the top 10 in their respective fields, making Georgia Tech the only institution in the nation to garner top 10 rankings for all of its engineering graduate programs in five straight years. MIT rejoined Georgia Tech for most appearances (11) on the Top 10 engineering specialty rankings, and Stanford joined them with the introduction of a 13th specialty this year - Petroleum Engineering.

“With three programs ranked second or higher and all 11 in the top eight in their fields, Georgia Tech continues to be an excellent option for graduate students looking for a world-class engineering education.” said Gary S. May, dean of the College of Engineering. “This recognition is a testament to our hard-working faculty who are committed to providing their students with outstanding educational and research opportunities."

For graduate programs, Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering ranked No. 7 overall, No. 3 among public universities.
