Abstract: The objective of the proposed research is to advance the utility of chiral metamaterials. While enhancing the performance of chiral metamaterials has been pursued, the goal of this proposal is to go beyond the extensive research on chiral metamaterials to expand upon their properties and applications, seeking out new nonlinear phenomena. The proposal provides an up to date summary of the literature, brings to light the gaps that remain in the field and builds off of preexisting works to advance the field. Results from preliminary works are provided, which include a series of nonlinear spectroscopic techniques on a pair of nano engineered twisted arcs. In addition, quantum dots are used as an achiral probe to investigate and extract chiral signals generated by the metamaterial.  A series of proposed projects are outlined to investigate chiral metamaterials and truly harness their intense chiral features from: nonlinear chiral negation, electrolytic sensing, and a chiral metamaterial laser.
