Track speakers announced for RBI conference

Primary tabs

Georgia Tech's Renewable Bioproducts Institute will hold its annual executive conference April 5-6, entitled Reimagining Bioproducts Industries: New Ideas — New Opportunities.  The event will be held at the Paper Tricentennial Building on the Atlanta campus.

Experts from public, private and academic sectors will engage during three concurrent tracks:

  • Operational Excellence in Advanced Pulping, Paper and Packaging
  • The Future of Biocomposites and Nanocellulose
  • New Opportunities in Biochemicals

Outstanding keynote speakers will complement faculty and student presentations for each of these tracks—Soydan Ozcan, Oak Ridge National Lab, for biocomposites and nanocellulose; Gregg Beckham, National Renewable Energy Lab, for biochemicals; and John Rager, RISI, for pulp, paper and packaging.

Faculty and students funded by RBI’s unique $44 million endowment will share their research and ideas about future opportunities to develop the forest bioproducts industries.  The endowment funding enables RBI to contribute significantly to the body of knowledge on priority topics of interest to the industry and share results in an open discussion forum.

Throughout the two days, company leaders will discuss with expert researchers and students how RBI can make its work more relevant to industry objectives.  Companies will learn more about how Georgia Tech’s innovation and commercialization centers can provide insights, techniques and tools to support their strategies in these areas.  RBI will use the conference as an opportunity to showcase itself as a portal into pertinent research being conducted on campus.

More than 30 students will participate in the popular poster session mirroring the three tracks.
