Tech Holds Inaugural Legislative Day

Primary tabs

On Nov. 7, President Bud Peterson and Val Peterson played host to nearly 200 guests, kicking off Tech's first Georgia Tech Legislative Day. Many attendees were legislators, department heads and other state administrators.

The president and his wife welcomed the guests to an afternoon reception at the President's Residence prior to the kick-off of the Yellow Jackets and Wake Forest football game. In attendance were University System of Georgia Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr. and House Speaker Glenn Richardson, as well as Gov. Sonny Perdue and his family.

"We organized this event to continue our ongoing efforts to build partnerships between government leaders and Georgia Tech," said Dene Sheheane, executive director of Government and Community Relations at Tech. "We are appreciative of the time state leaders spent on our campus to learn more about Georgia Tech, and we hope this Legislative Day will be the first of many."

Regents, state constitutional officers, state and federal legislators, USG staff members and state department heads were invited to the event.
