Natural Gas Conversion: Opportunities and Challenges for the Southeast

Primary tabs

Natural gas is gaining a growing share of the global energy spectrum. As a low-cost, low carbon energy source, natural gas is replacing coal in the power sector and is becoming the fuel of choice for other industrial sectors, including exports, transportation, and chemicals.  Widespread conversion to natural gas will require considerable investment, expansion of infrastructure, and long-term environmental considerations. This session will explore many of the logistical, economic, and engineering challenges of natural gas conversion and discuss national and regional strategies for deployment.
