Construction History Society of America Inaugural Event

The Georgia Tech College of Architecture is supporting the formation of an American branch of the Construction History Society of America. The group will hold its inaugural symposium November 6-8th, 2008, with the theme of the event being "Learning from Design and Construction Failures." Although full participation in the conference requires registration and payment, the general public is invited to a free session on Saturday, November 8th entitled "Atlanta 1908 - A Design and Construction Perspective."

Chairman of the organizing committee is Brian Bowen, Professor of Practice at the College of Architecture. He is assisted by representatives from MIT, Texas A&M, University of Pennsylvania, University of Iowa and ACEC.

The Construction History Society (UK), the parent organization formed in 1982, publishes newsletters and a scholarly journal, and organizes programs focused on the study of history and evolution of all aspects of the built environment
