Primary tabs

Dr. Tansel Yucelen will be joining the faculty of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology in the Fall of 2013.

Dr. Yucelen received his PhD degree from the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering in May 2012 under the supervision of Dr. Anthony J. Calise. Prior to his graduation in December 2011, Dr. Yucelen was employed as a Research Faculty and Research Engineer II with Dr. Eric N. Johnson in Aerospace Engineering and then, in March 2013, with Dr. Jeff Shamma in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both at Georgia Tech.

His research field falls into dynamical systems and controls with research specialization in robust adaptive control of safety-critical autonomous systems, resilient cooperative control of networked multivehicle systems, distributed estimation and control of large-scale interconnected systems, and smart structure systems. His contributions at the Georgia Institute of Technology include 15 journal papers and 50 conference papers. Furthermore, he participated on a successful grant application to NASA, organized workshops, invited sessions, and co-chaired various sessions in international conferences. The theoretical results he co-developed at Georgia Tech were implemented on NASA AirSTAR, Georgia Tech TwinSTAR, and Georgia Tech Quadrocopter flight test vehicles.

Dr. Yucelen earned his B.S. degree in Control Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University in Turkey in 2006 and an M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2008. He is a member of AIAA and IEEE, including IEEE Control System Society's Technical Committee on System Identification and Adaptive Control, Aerospace Control, and Intelligent Control.
