6th Annual AE Expo Showcases Research

Primary tabs

The 6th Annual Aerospace Engineering Expo took place on Wednesday, September 5th from 5-7pm in the Student Center Ballroom with over 240 students in attendance.  The event showcased various research activities going on throughout the labs within the School of AE.  This year had almost every lab in the School of AE participating.  Some of the labs had laptops displaying videos of recent experiments.  A couple of labs and organizations even brought in prototypes and/or real testing equipment.

One of the main highlights of this event was, as usual, the lab tours.  This year's lab tours were given at the John J. Harper Wind Tunnel and the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory facilities; there was also a signup sheet for a tour of the Combustion Laboratory that will be happening later in the semester.  Besides students, we also had several faculty members and alumni show up at the event, and they enjoyed interacting with all of the students in attendance.

Overall, the event was a huge success because of the energy put forth by the research labs and student organizations.  Not only did they put together amazing posters and other visuals to explain complex mateiral, but the graduate students at the various booths were also able to articulate their research in a way that highlights the quality of research being conducted in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering.  The AE Expo was sponsored by the different AE student organizations: School of Aerospace Engineering Student Advisory Council (SAESAC), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), American Helicopter Society (AHS), and Sigma Gamma Tau (SGT).  This event would not have been possible without financial contributions from the School of AE and the Chair of the School, Prof. Vigor Yang.
