Bio
Christen Steele joined the College of Computing as an Academic Advisor in October 2014. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina, and her Bachelors’ degrees in International & Area Studies and African-American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a social worker, Christen has had experience working with asylum seekers, refugees, and special immigrants in resettling to the United States, gaining self-sufficiency through employment, and earning a quality education. In the field of higher education, Christen has worked with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Miami (FL), University of South Carolina, and most recently Georgia Institute of Technology in academic advising, learning support, and tutorial support roles for student-athletes. Christen enjoys helping students achieve their academic and personal goals, as well as cooking, dancing, playing tennis, volleyball, and hiking.
