Join us for the second annual Greek Hall of Fame Gala on Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Historic Academy of Medicine.  This prestigious event will honor six alumni members who exemplify the ideals of their fraternity or sorority creed and have been selected based upon their notable involvement with Greek life, Georgia Tech, their profession and their community.

In honoring these dedicated fraternity and sorority alumni/ae, proceeds from the Hall of Fame event benefit programs to grow the next generation of Greek alumni leaders. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are:

Rodney C. Adkins, Kappa Alpha Psi, EE '81, MSEE '83
Rod is the senior vice president of Corporate Strategy at IBM.  He has served the company for more than 30 years in a variety of positions, leading global teams, managing multi-billion dollar business units, and developing product innovations and enterprise solutions. Rod was inducted into the National Academy of Engineers in 2005, and is a member of the Executive Leadership Council for the National Society of Black Engineers. Within his fraternity, Rod is known to be the Founder of the Lambda Delta Chapter at Georgia Tech, and continues to serve on the local and national levels in leadership.  Rod’s service to Kappa Alpha Psi has garnered him recognition as well.  He will be receiving the Fraternity’s Laurel Wreath this summer.  This award is the highest honor bestowed upon a member of the Fraternity.

James R. Borders, Phi Delta Theta, ME '83
Jim is the founding president and CEO of Novare Group, a successful property development firm based in Atlanta.  His work on projects in Midtown Atlanta, have been credited for the economic resurgence in this area of the city and for creating the vibrant lifestyle to Midtown.  In addition to his professional career, Jim has served as an officer on his chapter’s alumni association board.  He was instrumental in preparing the chapter’s strategic plan, which increased membership, alumni support, and stronger chapter operations.  His service to Georgia Tech is also unwavering.  Jim is generous donor to the Institute, having been recognized as a member of the Hill Society.  He has also served on the Alumni Association board of trustees, the Georgia Tech Foundation, the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund.

Joseph W. Evans, Tau Kappa Epsilon, IM '71
As he states in his talks with undergraduate students, Joe came to Georgia Tech with the sole intention of “making himself employable.”  Joe did just that.  He has spent his career since graduation in the banking industry, elevating himself to the position as chairman and CEO of State Bank Financial Corp. and its subsidiary, State Bank and Trust.  He is also strong supporter of the place that got him to point.  He has served Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business on the Advisory Board, and founded the Dean’s Scholarship Program in 2009.  Since that time, he and his wife have endowed three Reana W. and Je W. Evans Dean’s Scholarships.  His support of students continues with his involvement at his fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon.  Joe regularly visits the chapter house at meal times, speaking to the members about his experiences and offering advice for their lives and careers.  He has also served as a speaker at Greek Leadership Breakfasts.

Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, Delta Sigma Theta, Chem '83
Dr. Montgomery Rice serves at the resident of the Morehouse School of Medicine, and is the nation’s first African-American woman to lead a free-standing medical school.  As a trained medical doctor, she specialized in obstetrics and gynecology.  Her academic and professional background led to founding the Meharry’s Center for Women’s Health Research in Nashville, TN.  Her research on women’s health, especially with women of color, has garnered her international prestige. At Georgia Tech, Dr. Montgomery Rice continues to give of her time and treasure for the benefit of students.  She has served as a keynote speaker at the annual Women’s Leadership Conference, Diversity Symposium, and GT Health Connect South.  She serves on the College of Engineering External Advisory Board and on the GT Alumni Association Board of Trustees.  She has also contributed significantly to the success of her sorority chapter with housing initiatives and homecoming activities.

Jane Skelton, Alpha Gamma Delta, IM '77
Jane is a dedicated professional to the financial industry in Atlanta, currently serving as the CFO of InfiCorp Holdings, Inc.  She offered her professional talents in service to her sorority, where she served as the financial advisor to the chapter for 19 years following her graduation.  Additionally, she co-sponsors the Gamma Phi Memorial Scholarship that supports current undergraduate members who face financial hardship during their college career.  Jane has also been a long-time donor to Georgia Tech, having been recognized as a member of the Founder’s Council. She remains actively involved in church, attending mission trips, and as a board member for ArtWithin.  Jane is often described as humble woman, never seeking recognition for her service to others.

Janice N. Wittschiebe, Alpha Xi Delta, Arch '78, MArch '80
As an accomplished architect, Janice has contributed significantly to the professional landscape, non-profit organizations, Georgia Tech, and to her sorority – Alpha Xi Delta.  In her career, Janice has work on designs for MARTA stations, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Coca-Cola Enterprises, and various governments.  Janice is also known for her work on campus with many fraternity and sorority houses, as well as the Woodruff Residence Hall.  Her success has led her to become a principal at the firm of Richard Wittschiebe Hand.  In addition to her professional work, Janice offers her time and talents as a dedicated alumna of Georgia Tech.  She has served as the chair of the Alumni Association board of trustees, and as a member of the Athletic Association board and Georgia Tech Foundation.  For over 10 years she has also served as the vice president of operations for the sorority’s house corporation, and lead various capital campaigns.
