Primary tabs

MLK Dayof Service

January 19th 7:45am - 2:00pm

This campus-wide initiative, organized by the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement, will honor the legacy and teachings of Dr. King by exemplifying the spirit of “A Day On, Not a Day Off” for this important national holiday.

The Leading Edge Staff is engaging in service projects with the following metro-Atlanta community partners and we encourage you to join us:

  • Hosea Feed The Hungry - Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless examines and then raises public awareness about the many problems facing families and individuals that are living in poverty or are at-risk of slipping into poverty. Volunteers will help prepare for our annual MLK Dinner Event, by sorting clothes, packing boxes, groceries, baby products, and toiletries.

  • The West Atlanta Land Trust - The Atlanta Land Trust Collaborative (ALTC) incubates and supports the development and operation of permanently affordable housing initiatives by independent non-profit Community Land Trusts, along the BeltLine and throughout the City. Volunteers will be cleaning an outdoor classroom and learning garden: Removing debris, assembling benches and mixing cement.

Register early! You will receive a light breakfast, lunch, and a free t-shirt. Transportation will be provided to and from the service projects.
