Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

Georgia Tech, including OIE, will be closed for the Winter Break from December 22nd
December 26th and again on January 1st. OIE will be open December 29th-December 31st from 8:30-4:30 and will follow normal walk-in advising hours.

Starting January 2nd, 2015, OIE will resume regular business hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.
Between December 29th-31st and January 2nd-6th, 2015, ISSS advisors will be focused on welcoming new F and J students and scholars who are arriving at Georgia Tech for the first time.

In the event of an emergency
If you have an emergency (not related to international student travel documents) that needs attention during the time the Institute is closed, please contact the Georgia Tech Campus Police at 404-894-2500. They will be able to connect you to the Dean of Students on duty.

If you did not obtain a valid travel signature, please note that this is NOT an emergency the GT Police, the Dean on Duty, or OIE can resolve.  Failing to have a signed I-20 or DS-2019 upon returning to the U.S. is something you will communicate with the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Official at the U.S. Port of Entry.

What to do if you did not get a valid travel signature:

  1. Log into iStart and print the home page screen where your name, SEVIS ID, and SEVIS status are listed.
  2. Show this iStart print out, your passport, and any other immigration documents you have with you to the CBP Official. They will review your records and determine if an I-515A for temporary admission to the U.S. is appropriate.
  3. If you are issued an I-515A please know that you must visit OIE during scheduled walk-in advising hours upon returning to campus to obtain a newly issued and signed I-20 or DS-2019. This is required in order to fulfill the I-515A requirements within the 30 day period allotted by the Department of Homeland Security.

For more information on I-515A issuance and instructions on how to best prepare for your arrival into the U.S., please visit the Department of Homeland Security's Study in the States website:
