Trees Atlanta Speaker Series:Lunch & Learn Lecture about Atlanta’s Tree Canopy

Come learn about the Urban Tree Canopy of Atlanta from experts who will present their findings of two different canopy studies. Tony Giarrusso will discuss Georgia Tech’s research with the Center of Geogrphic Information Systems and the Center for Quality Grown and Regional Development to quantify Atlanta’s existing Urban Tree Canopy. Then the research conducted by American Forests will be presented by Ian Leahy and will review their scientific measures, methods and results of assessments on the overall condition of the city’s urban forest and the benefits it provides at both local and national levels. After each presenter reviews their findings, Brian Stonewill facilitate a discussion between panelists and incorporate audience questions.

  • 11:30am – Bring a bag lunch and beverages provided by Trees Atlanta
  • 12:00pm to 1:00pm – Presentation by Tony and Ian followed by discussion facilitated by Brian Stone
